Lake Elphinstone Camp Area
About this site
Lake Elphinstone is a natural lake which once supported the town of Elphinstone - long since disbanded. The lake is located within the Nebo Shire, approximately 92 kilometres west of Mackay, and can be accessed via the Sutter Developmental Road on your way to Glenden. Glenden is the nearest township to Lake Elphinstone, with petrol and grocery supplies available, 25 kilometres away. The lake is a popular destination for fishing, kayaking and water skiing with free camping and amenities available beside the lake. Red Claw crayfish can be caught here. However, there can be periods with little water in the dam as has occurred during early 2022.
