Tarn Ridge Hut is below Girdlestone (1546 m) and is an important overnight shelter on the Northern Crossing. It is currently water-damaged and offers protection from elements but alternative accommodation is recommended. Located in Tararua Forest Park, it has 16 bunk beds and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
