About this site
Historic Cecil Kings Hut is one of the few surviving buildings of the depression mining in the Wangapeka. It was built in 1935 by Cecil King and others, from locally sourced materials. The hut is a single-roomed, rectangular slab hut with 4 bunks, a small annex, and a stone fireplace. It is located on a grassy clearing on the Wangapeka Track.
