Macrossan Park

Macrossan Park is a popular, free campground overlooking the Burdekin River and provides a basic amenities block that has cold only showers (does not provide for disabled access). Only 20km east of Charters Towers along the Flinders Highway or 111 km SW of Townsville.During the wet season the River can rise significantly and there is a marker recording the height of the water has reached in flood.Although the River here is fairly shallow, there have been quite a few Sooty Grunters pulled out of this stretch as well as the odd decent sized Barramundi. It would also make a good location to put in for a spot of kayaking.Crocodiles have been spotted in the river.
